Plaque Unveiling Ceremony & WYK89 Scholarship
28 March 2026

Set up to fund financial assistance for needy students planning to take part in the overseas exchange programmes offered by WYK, the Class89 Scholarship was, in its way, a vow: that aspirations need not be rationed by circumstances, and that new doors should remain open to whoever is ready to step through.
The Class of 1989 came back to their alma mater for reunion on 28 March 2026, filling familiar corridors with voices that sounded newly polished. But the afternoon held more than reunion warmth. That same day was dedicated to a quieter sort of recognition – the unveiling of a brass plaque, commemorating the naming of Classroom 116, or 1A1 as it was called in the 80s.
The room, notably, was the very one they had called home in Form 1: a place where lessons began, and the future was still a mystery to fathom. Bringing the day’s celebrations back to where their school journey began – the brass plaque caught the light – and the past, without ever being sentimental, finally got its due.
