A Duet of Pink & Gold: Blooming from Shared Care by Alumni & Friends
3 October 2025

Since 2023, our first-ever group planting initiative has taken root: Tabebuia rosea (紅花風鈴木) alongside Tabebuia chrysantha (黃花風鈴木) – a shared act of care that feels almost destined to blossom by nature. Tabebuia rosea arrives as a soft pink prelude to beauty; Tabebuia chrysantha follows in bright splendour, as if summer briefly found a richer colour. When their moment comes, each tree blooms with vivid confidence, adding vibrant colours to our verdant campus.
By 2025, group planting in the area was completed, with a total of four trees rising in good shape and health next to the St. Ignatius Chapel. Against the ferocity of several super typhoons and rainstorms over the years, they only keep growing stronger with vigour.
The blossoming every year paints the campus with gratitude in living colours. To every donor who responded to our first planting call back in 2023:
- Tai Man Kei Christina
- Anonymous
- Class of 1983
- The Chow Family
Thank you. A commemorative plaque and individual tree tag were specially produced to honour the joint effort of our dear alumni and friends of WYK, who helped make our campus a little more idyllic, and the learning experience at WYK more enriching.
